Thanks to the work of the late Aunty Peggy Mascarenhas of Sonarbhat,
we now know that avocados grow in Saligao. And often they grow well
too.
Wow! Marbrouk! A.Peggy will always be remembered eh? Are there trees in
her compound too?
We have a couple of trees in our yard, one of which bears fruit (it takes
five to seven years to fruit).
Quite an expensive fruit/vegetable here. As you know, it can be eaten
either way & a milkshake made of ripe avocado is really refreshing, tasty &
nourishing... add a scoop of vanilla icecream too.
One of my friends in College had a huge tree bearing a lot of avocados in
their backyard in Corjuem (had to cross over by boat in the 1970's from
Aldona, now there is a bridge there I think)
So lucky you Rico, quite nourishing for your kids,, however it is the only
vegetable/fruit that contains fat, so you dont eat too much of the same but
let your kids enjoy & get the nourishment.
