All goans everywhere,
This is a wake-up call to save Goa before it is too late...
While you have great intentions and noble ideas, one cannot stop civilization
or progress in Goa. Development will come just like you as a tourist add to the
tourist development of Goa. The right thing to do would be to have developers,
goverment and citizens agree on a environmentally sound development in
designated tourist areas.
One need not invent the wheel, it has been done all over the world- we can
learn from other's mistakes and good planning.
And tourism is not a bad thing- it can bring much needed economic boom from
good planning for the rest of the locals.
The thing to do is get actively involved in planning and implementation of
development such as "the tourist strip/zone" that is sustanable for the locals
while providing environmental and economic boom.
Goans can learn from development in Cancun Mexico or Puerto Vallarta also in
Mexico; Bahamas, Dominican Republic or any of the other carribean nations- they
have learned to balance tourism and local interest very well.
