Some of you might know Lyndon Mendonca, who mum taught in Lourdes
Convent and his sister (whom we call Calousha) also taught for awhile
at St Mary's, Mapusa. Lyondon studied at the shipbuilding technology
institute at Vasco, and is now a senior engineer on board the ship.
His brothers are Zevito and Carl (in Canada). Carl is married to Mary,
also from Saligao.

When he droped in briefly this evening we chatted about his work (the
vessel he is on ferries Japanese cars to New Zealand, Australia, the
US, and the Persian Gulf... ) When I told my kids that the ship
carries upto 5000 cars at one go, Riza thought it must be the "largest
ship in the world"!

Obviously, when Saligaokars go across the globe and do amazing jobs,
it only underlines the need for us to invest more into building human
skills among those here (and also the Goan diaspora community across
the globe, which is doing well).

Here's wishing Lyndon all the best. If you want to get in touch,
contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] ... though I guess he's reading
Saligaonet too. FN
