Thanks for the mail, Rico. Looks like you tried to follow up on my posting
regarding this matter & sent the list. Neither Mum nor Fiona (Martha Rita
(Santana)/Fiona Lorraine (Santana) - Vas or Vaz - are on the rolls of
Donvaddo - I've checked & rechecked the list you have sent. Also accessed
the website & tried to check using name, surname & house no. ...the search
shows that their names are not on the electoral roll. ....which means 2 less
votes again (there must must a whole lot more missing since the queue at the
Mamlatdar's office was a long one in first week of May) since they couldnt
vote at the Panchayat Elections either for same reason.
For info, Fiona has been to Mamlatadar office to check & re-register their
names - did it on 3rd May since 8th was last day. After that she followed
up with the office & they informed her that the forms were sent to Panjim &
the needful would be done.....guess it was an exercise in futility as past
experience of others & the comments made also gave her to understand that
their names might not really get onto the rolls in time. Procrastination
(accidental or deliberate) is a quirk of Govt. machinery & who knows that
better than I do as have experienced this often enough.
Albert, perhaps you may make note of this, it is not for lack of trying or
adopting "susegaad" attitude as you once implied with regard to other jobs
yet to be done with reference to Saligao etc. etc.
