Hi there

Think this is a good idea but maybe what would be better is to ascertain
where these emergency situations stem from.... one main area has got to be
road carnage!! Some decent 'GO SLOW, ACCIDENT ZONE, CHILDREN CROSSING,
RESPECT OUR VILLAGE ETC signage would not go a miss. I for one would much
rather read this information than a whole load of blurb on granite about
fundamental amenities (money for which incidentally could have gone on
cleaning up that corner and making it a safe decent place for the buses to
pull in out of the traffic) Signs can be painted directly onto the road,
fat diagonal lines are used in many parts of the world and slow traffic down
effectively. Cats eyes in the roads. Solar lighting through all of the
village. Give way lines at the junction. Indicate when turning reminders.
There is lots that can be done in the village to prevent the amount of
accidents and slow the mass of traffic down when it passes through. The
speed at which the coaches (& I mean the big ones that should only ever be
on highways) tear around the CIE corner during the season is terrifying. We
don't need wider roads in the village we need better driving & slow down
signs! If the so called 'test' does not teach drivers the basic rules of the
road then maybe some decent signage could!
The 'emergency' service would only work if it truly was that, a 24/7 service
that could actually deal with accident and emergency situations & everyone
in the village was aware of it and was willing to support it.

Another thing which the village needs is a really decent information board
with contact numbers which should of course include Drs, chemist,
electricity dept, schools, priests, snake catchers etc etc....

Wouldn't it be great if our new MLA actually makes a difference to
everybodys every day (& night) lives & we can all actually see and feel it
this time around? Lets hope he subscribes to this site too!

Just my thoughts...

Dear Saligaokars,

I would like your feedback on my thoughts and perhaps
someone in Saligao can take the lead on this project.
Maybe the new MLA can pitch in or fund the poject.

As all of you know that when there is a medical
emergency, we have to rush the patient to Mapusa or
Porvorim or Pankim hospitals. We do not have an
emergency vehical nor do we have a nurse to attend.

Here is what I am proposing :

We all contribute and buy a Mini Van
Equip it with the necessary equipment

Get a Volenteer Driver and Nurse and bingo we have "
Saligao emergency"

I am willing to chip in.

Any thoughts or suggestions ?
