This evening, I ran into Rosario Vaz, my schoolmate-turned-Salesian-priest, as I took Aren for the first haircut in his life at the barbers! (The Hyderabadi, actually Mehboobnagar, barbers at the Saligao tinto keep open till 9.30 pm and offer a very good Indian-style head massage!)
Fr Rosario is a popular figure in the village, in between his work and sojourns in distant Africa. Those of us who grew up in the 'seventies in Saligao, would know him as part of the Noel-Terence duo who lived in Sequeiravaddo (hope I got that right). He told me he's going to spend a couple of years at Ahmednagar, doing his Master's in Social Work. We chatted briefly about work being done in Maharashtra about rainwater harvesting, and agriculture.
