To: "Frederick Noronha [फरॆडरीक नोरोनया]" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Rico, Austin here. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Regarding the 'PETROL PUMP'- from the information that I have the permissions for the same have already been given earlier this year by the TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNNING dept. and the file if not cleared already by the Village Panchayat may still be awaiting clearence at the same level. your information that the same changed into a multi-storeyed building is incorrect. The building which has com up is a seperate entity and from what I have gathered, the petrol punp was/is supposed to come up in the other half of the property by the side of Cornell Communication. We had already strongly objected to the same on the grounds that the petrol pump was too close to the resedential area, as well as the cremeatoriom, a spark of which could ignite the full place. I am however unaware of the present status of the same, Recently the Calangute people at their last Gram Sabha decided not to allow the other petrol pump (the first was already cancelled) as it was found too close to the resedential area. I had come to the last Gram Sabha in Saligao, with the intention of asking about the Petrol Pump but forgot about the same due to the arguements on the accounts and the other matters. Another area of concern is the drainage that lies across the same plot where the building has come up and the proposed petrol pump is supposed to come up. The old Drain was too narrow and we had already taken up this issue with the property owners/bldg owners that they had to leave atleast ' 1 meter ' setback to allow proper construction of the drain, which used to get blocked every time, leading to the fields and other areas in front of the Church gettiung flooded. The panchayat people were also present than but it looks like nothing was done finally as at present the roadsidearea bordering the drain is being done due to the underground cableing and the drain has once again become narrow. I do not know if the Coimmunidade of Saligao will have to bring the matter once again to the notice of the Village Panchayat or bring a legal ' stay order ' on the works going on there, making all three i.e. The village Panchayat. the G.E.D.C/ (CONTRACTORS) , and the property owners a party to the same. Kiundly let me know your views on the same... regards Austin da Gama Cottula, Saligao. On 6/26/07, Frederick Noronha [फरॆडरीक नोरोनया] <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:
Does anyone have information about the "petrol pump" that was to come up near the Saligao church, and suddenly apparently got converted into a multi-storeyed building?
