You should know by now, Rico, that I never miss an opportunity to give credit where it is due. Isnt that offering enough? ....Just kidding! Appreciation never goes amiss & spurs others on. & I feel most Saliganvkars deserve the appreciation for all that they are doing. We didnt get much during our time, (except for enacting Pearl the Fishermaiden in Lourdes Convent - ha ha!), so consider yourselves lucky. I dont think I left you out either including the other whiz kids. You all are "awesome" (according to my non-computer mind & using M&M's word, ... see how my brain works, I cant even think of a word of my own for your great minds....) & I've noted that Seby is always trying to do his part from the other end of the world. So are others but I have no time nor inclination to enumerate now.. doesnt mean I havent noted. Luwell & I try & "help" as & when we can - always in the hope that we are building our credit dome "Upstairs", "Next World" rather than in this one. Of course we know that we are not doing enough "help" but we are restricted by our circumstances...wont bore you & others.
I've done my share of what I call "social service" "community service" (still do it on & off) before & got loaded with the hassles & all the rest I've referred to indirectly in most of my mails. I still have a few black faces to contend with even now. So I'm taking a well deserved break in my old age. You do realise what old age brings along, dont you? Feeble mind, feeble spirit & feeble limbs ....but that is a personal matter so again ditto as above ....wont bore you & others with the stuff.
Annette, what's your offering "on the table"?
Offers dried up, sorry! Grey matter is turning white though I still help out now & then here, too far out to help with same services - like "training in quizzes & general knowledge" - your forte? it is mine too besides doing little things of which left hand doesnt know what the right has offered. Oh & I can teach dancing if required but the one week I spend in Goa "dancing" around getting my work done & medicals done, is too short a time to offer any sort of service isnt it? I'm in & out of Saligao before I've even had time to meet old friends & relatives. & everytime I've asked for you when passing by your house, you werent "in". Yeh yeh, I know you are busy! with all the offerings/offers??? Kidding, just kidding! - your profession takes you to different parts of India & the world too...(heard you were in Africa a while) so guess your mind is stimulated & you do have a lot to offer which is good for Saligao.
For myself, I could offer the following: 1. Mentoring in journalism for anyone, specially youth (even school going if you're determined about it). 2. Ditto for digital photography. 3. Lots of reading material on computing 4. Training in quizzes and general knowledge. 5. Maybe a short session on gleaning information on the Net, but for this a suitable venue and would be needed. FN
Ye gad! Rico! You sure have a lot of hobbies & hence a lot to offer. . Photography & of course computer knowledge & skills which is what this world is about today & at which I'm a ZERO. I am only able to read a lot & not from the Net for obvious reasons, but the good, heavy tomes or the run of the mill magazines....so if you want me to impart the knowledge that I've gleaned from my reading habit, hobby, then of course I would be pleased to do that....question is when? Oh & patience I do not have, hence this teaching & mentoring would hardly be my cup of tea - that is why I didnt make my Dad's wish/dream come true & didnt become a teacher. Cant see myself in Giselle's shoes for isntance... That is why I can appreciate what all these people do because I know I cant do that. I can type though, I'm a a fast typist (or so I've been told) so I could type up your notes or anything for that matter or help out - just plain typing please or plain wordprocessing so that what i type can be saved - yeh I can do that. Not all this copying, pasting attaching etc. you all do on your computers, jumping from one window to another, opening closing, jumping from one website to another - it drives me nuts.
