In view of the debate yesterday, I just thought of arbitrarily building a list of ten things anyone (whether in the village or out) could do for Saligao. Please debate and amend my list with your own suggestions. It's just some top-of-my-hat brainstorming:
* Support libraries and reading rooms (Lourdes Convent is already working on this). * Share your skills with local initiatives (S'gao Inst reading club, etc) * Write about the village, interview locals. * Encourage local youth to build skills (writing, tech, whatever) * Build the reading habit in Saligao * Encourage elders with life-long learning ideas. * Build community... and a local directory for Saligao... * Take an active part in groups like consumers' forum. * Mentor the young (if you're around... or via the Net if you're not) * Match skills available with local needs.
