Thought I'd post a note from my 'big brother', Pralad:
"Don't know how to write my thoughts about Edwin's death. He was a really
genuine guy. So cool, he would give a rare perspective on things whenever I
dropped in to talk to him - which, by the way, I did without fail whenever I
was in Goa. The article you sent me dwelt at length on his wine making
abilities. I got to taste some of his wine (and also a deceptive, juice based
Feni mix) at his place on a number of occasions. "I know you don't drink,
Pralad, but try some of this. I think you will like it" was his opening line.I
was always astonished at his artistic ability. Only later did I find that he
was a taxidermist par excellence. A multi-talented "DaVinci of Saligao".For all
that, he lived quietly at home, never seeking any kind of limelight (another
undervalued virtue). I am sure that when I am next in Saligao, I will walk past
that house and remember the many times I sat with him and his family on the
"balcony" and talking about a variety of subjects. One thing is for
sure, for me personally, Saligao will be a poorer place without his
