it doesn't have a problem with long file name, but 8.3 name creation is
plainly disabled

i usually install all the apps before i secure the box
and i've made a checklist for that (http://smal.net/security) where i
disable all that's not needed and tighten rights and all, not been hacked
since i follow this (touch wood)

but since our last SAlive machine was taken apart because we needed the
motherboard which fitted that of a custumer that was broken (the
motherboard, not the custumer) i had to put SAlive on an already installed
and secured machine, which i should not do
apps should be installed before i secure everything

hence the problem

btw : disable 8.3 name creation was a point in the IIS security checklist
from Microsoft, so i'm not inventing things here :-) but following what i
found best from checklists around and trials that i made
