I found when I had the host set on the scheduling tab that the statistics for the host
showed the host as down. This is not desirable (although it is the only way I've come
up with to do it). What I did instead is change the frequency of checking from every
10 minutes to every 6 hours. This is setup through the Misc tab in Setup. After
reading through the help documentation again, I see I could have set the check
frequency to 0 to achieve the same effect.

If I'm following you Brett, each host you have is set to "don't check"
on the scheduling tab from 11pm to 5am. Then you could have your 24x7
host checks scheduled to check all the time, no?

Subject: [SA-list] Multiple checking frequencies / maintenance?

Hi,

We've been using Servers Alive for some time now to monitor our servers
from 5 AM to 11 PM. Basically, if the server was down from 11 PM to 5
AM, we don't care until 5 AM. However, we now have some servers that we
want to monitor 24x7. Short of putting the 5-11 servers on maintenance
during the night, I can't think of any way to accomodate the two
different needs. I am reluctant to put the servers on maintenance as
this affects the statistics for the servers.

Does anybody have any other ideas?

Thanks,

Brett Hanson,
