I found when I had the host set on the scheduling tab that the statistics for the host showed the host as down. This is not desirable (although it is the only way I've come up with to do it). What I did instead is change the frequency of checking from every 10 minutes to every 6 hours. This is setup through the Misc tab in Setup. After reading through the help documentation again, I see I could have set the check frequency to 0 to achieve the same effect.
