Looking at the numbers it seems both are the same.
UK Orange 44 07785 499993 8,n,1 TAP
and
UK Vodafone Mobiles (TAP) 44 07785 499993 8,n,1 TAP
Most likely they are Vodaphone numbers.
Other Vodaphone numbers I found (but didn't test since I'm not in the UK)
are:

Password=ACOA
Library=TAP

[Vodafone SMS (UK)] +44 (385) 499993
Library=TAP

For Orange I found:

(not sure if they mean that a password is required or that the password is
REQUIRED)

I've been using this number (07785499993) that people are talking about
for a while, in the belief that it belonged to Orange. But Orange have
always denied any knowledge of it.
Others on this list claim it is Vodafone's.
On the page referenced above we find
UK Orange 44 07785499993 8,n,1 TAP
and
UK Vodafone Mobiles (TAP) 44 07785 499993 8,n,1 TAP
which would explain the different beliefs. Can anyone say for certain
a) who it belongs to?
b) if it is Vodafone, what number should I use for Orange? (The other one
listed, UK Orange Fleet 44 07973 100601, doesn't seem to want to play
ball)
