hmmm good old Winmodem is again a pain in the a***
I knew that a lot of *nix system just don't like them, didn't know that
under Windows that would also give that kind of problems....after all they
are called WINmodems....

Still nice to see that the problem was solved (and that it was not an SA
issue :-))

Working with Arch Wireless we found that the
issue was with the installed winmodem - wouldn't
handshake appropriately.

Putting an old Hayes Optima (9600) on COM 2
worked like magic.

Settings were: modem on COM2
7, Even, 1
baud=2400
SMSC = 9,1, 800 xxx xxxx
Proto = Tap
password - 7 digit pager number - this depends if
   you're accessing a 'local' Arch server - this could
   be statewide - might need all 10 digits.

Might want to try one of those hardware jobs you've
got sitting around if your winmodem won't do it.
