To my knowledge it will give you the exact number of files that is in the requested directory (using the "mask" you gave). Remember that this is done using the context of the given user. So if this user has no rights on some files, the user won't see them.

I've set up SA to alert when more than 10k files are in a directory, but it keeps alerting when there's only 1k files. -----Original Message----- From: Dirk Bulinckx [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, December 16, 2002 21:45 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [SA-list] CountFiles 1.0.0.9? Tried your suggestion, without success. Also tried with my own credentials in the .ini file, and using my personal mapped drive. I've tried the two following command lines, as well: C:\Program Files\Salive>countfiles ini=countfiles.ini section=Avante and C:\Program Files\Salive>countfiles ini="c:\Program Files\Salive\countfiles.ini" section=Avante Anthing else? -----Original Message----- From: Dirk Bulinckx [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, December 13, 2002 12:37 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [SA-list] Help with an addin If the E drive points to the drive on the remote system then try Path=\\zet-avante-01\e$\avante9\flodata\live\live.data\FOI.OUTBOX\ dirk. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Kurt Buff Sent: Fri Dec 13 9:16 PM To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Subject: [SA-list] Help with an addin All, I'm running V3.1.1043, and am having problems with the countfiles addin. I think I'm not getting the .ini file correct, but if someone could give me a little advice I'd appreciate it. I've been trying to test it from a Win2k CMD prompt, and echoing %errorlevel% by hand afterwards, but it always returns a 0, even though there are files in the directory. The .ini file is as follows: [Avante] Path=e:\avante9\flodata\live\live.data\FOI.OUTBOX\ Pattern=*.* Directory=T UserName=zetron\_service Password=Not the real password Server=zet-avante-01 It does have a blank line at the end, and the e: in the path specification is the e: drive that is local to the server, although I've also use the mapped drive specification and used the machine on which SA is installed as the server parameter. I'm not sure what the Directory=T specification is, but I've tried it with the supplied parameter and without, and have tried deleting the Directory= entry from the .ini entirely - no joy. Thoughts?
