It's looking for the 220 response.

Hi, We are getting lots of (seemingly) spurious messages that our SMTP server isn't responding. We have it checking Winsock SMTP port with a 90 second timeout, and get many DOWN messages when server seems fine (about 8 times a day!). I have it send me a Windows message on the first error, and I immediately try to telnet to port 25, and get through with normal response ("Connecting.....", "220 etc"). Update again, no error. I checked the SAlive log, and see "Connect to xxxx.xxxx.com on 25 possible BUT wrong data return" each time this happens. Usually checks and is fine, but we are only getting this randomly. Occasionally it actually is down, but hasn't been for a while now. Can you tell me what response SA is looking for, and what beside non-220 response code is interpreted as wrong data? (SAlive 3.3.1135, running on Win2000 SP2, target is SLMail 5 mailserver running on NT4 SP6a) Thanks. -- David To unsubscribe from a list, send a mail message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] With the following in the body of the message: unsubscribe SAlive To unsubscribe from a list, send a mail message to [EMAIL PROTECTED] With the following in the body of the message: unsubscribe SAlive
