When it stopped working did you see the interface? (I suppose not since it
was the service running as a user account and not the system account with
desktop interaction). Could you connect to the telnet/ssh/web interface?
Did that work correctly?
What was the last thing that the logfile showed? Was it the same each time?

When running it as service we do prefer it running as system account with
desktop interaction, that way it's at least possible to see the interface
and to see what the last line shows.

Subject: [SA-list] Servers Alive Stops Checking.

Dirk,

I have had a funny one this morning.

At around 05:00 Servers Alive stopped checking, servers alive itself was
still running and had not failed.

After some time and numerous restarts, I managed to get the checking to
work again (Although it seems to stop 'mid' cycle)

At approx 10:30 servers alive stopped checking again apparently 'mid'
cycle.

I have checked the event log, servers alive log and found nothing.

I am running servers alive as a service under a specific userid. Build
4.0.1453 on a windows 2000 server.

When I try and stop the service when it has stopped I get the following
error.

Microsoft Management Console

Could not stop the Servers Alive Service on local computer.
The service did not return an error. This could be an internal Windows
error or an internal service error.

If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.

I can stop and start the service as normal when servers alive is working
properly.

Have you any ideas as to the cause of this?

Regards

Paul
