Interesting.

I set the value of the key to -1, and this is what I get in my log:

Wednesday, August 27, 2003 4:48:35 PM URL check (http://www.agros.com) gave HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Wednesday, August 27, 2003 4:48:35 PM URL check (http://www.agros.com) : <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd">
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<META HTTP-EQUIV="Content
Wednesday, August 27, 2003 4:48:35 PM URL check contains string: View our(CON-8)
Wednesday, August 27, 2003 4:48:35 PM URL check : content not ok
Wednesday, August 27, 2003 4:48:35 PM URL check: 26965

Obviously not the whole page!

I changed the check to be on "DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC" and now it's working...

'sup with that!? ;)

From the doc:"

When performing a URL check with a "contains" clause, Servers Alive

saves 150 bytes (by default) of the retrieved web page in the log file. You

can change how much is saved by changed by adding or editing the

following registry entry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DBU Consulting\Servers

Alive\Log\HTTPBytesinLog (string)

A value of -1 means the full web page. Use this with care since your log

file will grow very fast. A value of 0 defaults back to 150 bytes.

"

So I would suggest to set it to -1, run one cycle, stop Servers Alive and check the logfile, this will show you exactly what the webserver did send to the Servers Alive "web" client.
 And based on that you can set the a contains clause that is correct.

Remember to change the value from -1 to something else (with -1 it will create HUGE logfiles).

dirk.

I only used the quotes in the message here so you would know the exact string.
I was set for 15 seconds - raising the timeout to 60 seconds still gets me the "content is NOT ok"

I just set my own installation of SA up to monitor that site with that same "should contain" field active, looking for the same string...though I input it in the box without the quotation marks...and it works fine...make sure that you have your timeout set sufficiently high enough so that the page can actually download enough to find the search string...try changing it from the default 5 seconds to 10 seconds...and make sure that the check box cookies is unchecked...and that on the check tab, that you have http://www.augros.com entered as the site...the http part seems to be important

Subject: [SA-list] Trying to check a web page

I'm trying to create an entry for http://www.augros.com in ServersAlive 4.0.1376

If I just define it as a URL, it works fine (status = "HTTP/1.1 200 OK"), but as soon as I put anything in the "should contain" field (I'm trying to use the string "About us"), I get "Got page and content is NOT ok".

I have it working on a few other pages just fine.

Any suggestions?
