Don't think the error is related since we're not using wbem.

Thanks Dirk. Ok, - I misunderstood the timeout section there.

I am using the perfmon section for the check, and within that process to
find the memory used by specific processes.

The server that I was trying this morning is now constantly giving me a
timeout error (1460). Tracert to the server showed only 4 hops. I can
connect to some transatlantic hosts and do basically the same thing. One
server took about 26 seconds, the other took about 29 seconds.

Maybe it's better just to check the processes are running and to use
something such as wmi scripts to check the memory usage on the
individual servers.

I do see in wbemess.log, around the time in question, the following
entries. I don't know if this means anything to anyone: (Tue Nov 11
13:39:34 2003) : Consumer provider ActiveScriptEventConsumer does not
support IWbemUnboundObjectSink: error code 80004002 (Tue Nov 11 13:39:44
2003) : Unloading event consumer sink
ActiveScriptEventConsumer.SPELM_Process_Consumer

1. Is already within the product.
Example:
        timeout of 1second
10 ping frames successrate of 100%
=> SA will send 10 frames and will internaly flag them as being
OK IF the response is received within 1s/10frames being 100ms, and at
the end of the 10 frames it will look if it has the requested
successrate (100% in the example) to decide on up or down.

2. Correct, that's the way it works. However 60 seconds to get the
memory usage of a process is a long time. How are you checking that?

Hi,
I'm looking to implement this within my group, I have a couple of
observations and don't know if anyone can comment on them .... 1/ It
would be nice to check ping tests for sub second response. i.e we should
normally have < 100 mS for example 2/ I can check the memory of a
process running on a server, however this takes about 60 seconds to
return, also during this time period, the servers alive application is
un-responsive

Don't get me wrong, I'm very interested in the product, just curious
what it would take to change 1, and any thoughts on 2 as to why it takes
so long and I guess if anything can be done so that it doesn't 'lock up'
while a long check is going on.

Thanks - Bryan.
