Try the latest smtp2pop3 com check, it adds
SMTP2POP3
To the subject
And has a body message that is not blank.

Let me know the result...

Ah, true. How about a "SMTP2POP3" string added? Or any other arbitrary
string?

The SAID is not passed from SA to the COM check and as such can't be
used by the COM check. And changing this would mean change the interface
that is used for all COM checks, and that's not something I'd like to
do.

Well, that would be a start. One of the email admins I spoke with said
that it is becoming standard practice for mail servers to be set up to
simply throw out bodyless messages, no matter what the spam settings may
be.
Could you add the SAID string to the subject?
Mike
>>> [EMAIL PROTECTED] 01/09/04 11:45AM >>>
The subject is
hhmmssyyyymmdd
Hh=hour
Mm=minutes
Ss=seconds
Yyyy=year
Mm=month
Dd=day
This is subject is needed for the check to work correctly.
So no this can't be changed.
As for the body of the mail, that's correct that one is empty.
What we could do is use a fixed message body saying something like
'Servers Alive SMTP2POP3 COM check control mail'
The question is will this be enough for a spam system not to see the
message as being spam?
Dirk.

Ok, I'm showing the following subject in the emails that are being sent:
"[SPAM] 12345676788900"
These sometime don't make it to the destination mailbox.
Now I know that the numbers are a slightly randomized date time stamp,
and I'm assuming that the "[SPAM]" part is being conviently added by my
companies spam service (Sprint, I believe). I have spoken with some
other email admins and the general thought is that it is being marked as
spam because of either the "numbers only in the subject line" rule, or
the "no message body" rule.
Can either of these attributes of the outbound message be changed?
Mike

Ask and we'll try to answer
