My first thought would be that it would not show that it was send to person/team but to the actual address.
(remember that we're talking about a change in Servers Alive that will NOT be in 4.1, but in the next major release (that is IF we're talking about released versions and not beta's)). Would there be a seperate log entry for each alert entry, i.e.: Send mail to {networkadmins} ok send mail to {criticaladmins} ok Send mail to (kingarthur) ok Mike >>> [EMAIL PROTECTED] 01/12/04 11:50AM >>> Don't think it's a good idea to have yet another logfile. What I would suggest is that the debug logging as it exists now is changed: minimal: will only log problems => entry down, can't send mail because,... maximum: all is logged (even I'm starting to send mail) medium: same as minimal + send mail OK (successful alerting) Dirk. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Marcel Wijnberger Sent: Monday, January 12, 2004 3:47 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Betr.: Re: [SA-list] feature request ? I suggested a textfile but if the solution would be an interchange file or any other format, its ok. As long as we can see if the scheduled actions on a DOWN are really executed. You can always have a discussion about the reliability of for example SMS, but thats beyond the scope and influence of SA. >>> [EMAIL PROTECTED] 12/01/2004 14:32:51 >>> This would be a wonderful feature, especially when setting up new alerts, and when the employee ties to dodge responsibility by saying "But, I never GOT the alerts... " It occurs to me that this might be an added column to the interchange file as opposed to a seperate new logfile, that way it'd be easy to track alerts that repeat on a schedule. my $.02 worth. We are planning to use SA for a large infrastructure project we do in Amsterdam. We now use the latest build 4.0.1563 (beta). Although SA works fine for us we would like to see a new feature: We would like to know: if a host is down and ifso which actions have been taken. for example: host 1 = down actions defined a) email to ict-staff b) sms to staffmember on call We would like to have some kind of log, which shows: Host 1 down (date, time etc..) actions taken: email send to ....... sms send to ........ We have looked at the current logging options but can't find a solution. We could enable full logging but then we would get to much :-) any idea's how to make this possible ?
