I've got to jump on the "me too" band wagon here.

When documenting projects that we've installed infrastructure for I need to
include how we're monitoring the apps/servers to the level of what we're
monitoring (ie. the service or process name, disk drive, ping, etc.), the
dependencies, how often the checks run based on the individual host
schedule and global cycle intervals, and what happens when a check
encounters a down condition.

It would also be handy to be able to capture the *entire* config for
internal admin documentation so I don't have to constantly remind people
that the check cycle interval is different on weekends as opposed to during
business hours, etc..

I can also certainly appreciate that this is no easy task!

Cheers,
Anthony

I have the same need, although not quite to the level that Mike's looking
for... could this be something that you could add to v5?

Sure give us 2 minutes and we'll just write a report generator....not....

Dirk.

Subject: [SA-list] new problem/solution?

I have been asked to present in paper form the complete check information
and setup of my Servers Alive setup to the Corporate Executive Commitee.
They want to see it ALL. Everything. Whole kit-n-kaboodle. All the details
about all of the checks, how they are setup, what happens when they go
down. Also the complete information from the Setup screens.

The current print screen comes nowhere near the detail they want to see.

Does anyone have an interpreter for the Hosts file that I can use to
generate reports?

Or better yet, Dirk can the wizards at your company come up with a seperate
report generator (I point it to the .reg file and Hosts file) that will
print a complete and detailed report of what Servers Alive is supposed to
be doing?

The reason for this is apparently they want to build in to our SLAs with
our clients the EXACT nature and process of what and how our clients
servers are being monitored.

Thanks!!
