I looks like the OS somehow looses track of the installed OCX/DLL files.
The COM check as such can still be found but when the COM check calls an
installed OCX/DLL it fails.
I'm afraid that there isn't much we/you can do about this.

Hmmm. Anything I can try to help with or just reinstall and hope that fixes
it. It had been working fine for months. The only change I have made is I
started using the event log check. (It had been installed the entire time
however.)

We did at that time try to reproduce the issue and after 1000s of checks we
still didn't have the problem while the customer had it "rather" quickly, to
my knowledge we never realy fixed anything for this since we were not able
to reproduce it.

Received no replies on this the other day. It occurred again today. I have
a log of the error. I can send a copy of all logs since reload on the 21st.
Seems like a certain number of checks cause this. I remember someone else
having a similar problem and an upgrade fixed it. I am searching the
archives. Perhaps just reinstall the com checks?

Subject: [SA-list] com check errors

Three times in the past 4 days my servers alive has given me weird errors.
One of them comes with the smtp2pop3 check. The error is component
pops50.ocx or one of its dependencies cannot be found. I have not changed
or upgraded Salive in a month or two and everything has been working fine
until about 4 days ago. A restart of Salive fixes the error. I also get
the error Automation error A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization
routine failed. (-2147023782- 0) with the same conditions dont know if it
is a number of check cycles that causes the error or what but a restart of
SA always fixes it.
