Would installing the latest beta of SA provide and register the new
perfdata.ocx?

I would suggest:
        * download http://beta.woodstone.nu/soft/beta/perfdata.ocx
                do a regsvr32 perfdata.ocx /u (from within the system32
directory)
copy the new OCX over the old one
                do a regsvr32 perfdata.ocx (from within the system32
directory)
run Servers Alive...if that works continue your tests.

IF Servers Alive gives issues on all the perfmon checks (directly I
mean) then download the latest Servers Alive version from
http://Beta.woodstone.nu and run that one.

This could be related yes.
What version of Servers Alive are you using?
What version/size/date of the perfdata.ocx file (system32 directory of the
system running Servers Alive)

No entries in the log. Did discover that stopping and starting the Remote
Registry Service cleared up the problem.

I saw a thread in the SA archive from last April. Something about a leak in
regsvc.exe. Could this be related?

Does the remote eventlog show any error?

I have an unusual problem. We have a server that is not responding to
Performance Monitor requests through Servers Alive. Actually it does
respond eventually but the checks are taking two to five minutes each.
During the check Servers Alive is unresponsive. When the target server gets
in this state, it will not respond in a reasonable amount of time until it
is rebooted. The checks will work for about a week and then they quit
working again. Sometimes I will see a timeout message in SA, but typically
the check just hangs.
I do not think this is a SA issue, but I did notice one time that the
Performance checks started hanging after a stop and restart of the SA
service. Could this be a clue?
Has anyone seen this behavior? Better yet has anyone fixed this behavior?
