Dirk, Is it true that in SA v6, it will have the ability to telepathically know what we want to monitor and do it, all without intervention? That's what I heard.

You don't have to stop posting :-) For us it's important to see what lives amongst our users, what features are "lacking", but it's also important that you as user must understand that we can't do all right now. I think that compared to other companies/products that you have as user already have a lot of "influence" ... Hi Dirk, In that case I will temporarily cease posting. If everyone else follows my example you'll have more time for development! :) LOL Ali -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Dirk Bulinckx Sent: 17 September 2004 17:02 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [SA-list] Enumerated values in SNMP check? There are 2 options (both for v5.x :-)) * (in v5.0) scripting of the output -> you will be able to have Servers Alive execute a script and this script can then transform the received value (from the check) into something different * (in v5.x) integration with the MIB files -> SA will be able to retrieve the real name/string associated with the returned number IF you have compiled the MIB file into the MIB files collection of Servers Alive. This *could* be in v5.0 it will depend on how far we get with the dev. of this part. Hi all, Anybody got any ideas on how to get SA to return the Enums from an OID in an SNMP check? If I use GetIf and walk the OID in question, it shows "onLine". Whereas, when I do an SNMP check in SA it gives me 2. I realise that this is the integer value which is stored. I just wondered if there was a way to return the textual representation as shown in the GetIf Enums drop-down. The reason being I'd much rather send an alert (winpopup/e-mail) saying "The UPS changed status to onBattery" than "The UPS changed status to 3".
