Following on from this I've found the problem.

When the batch file is ran it is run in the the Servers Alive folder on the PC (in effect the start in for the file becomes c:\program files\salive), this means that any files called in the batch file need to be called from the root of the disk and not assuming that they file is in the same folder (does this make sense?)

Hope this helps anyone else who gets this.

Regards
Tobie

P.S.

SAlive is a top product blah blah blah, support top notch etc etc   ;-)

Yes executed fine - SA is not running as a service so its not anything to do with the security rights (as SA is running as the same as if I double click the file).

Any other ideas?  :-)

SO brings right back to a permissions issue.  I presume you are running Salive as a service using the local system account.  Since it is currently not possible to execute the commands as a different user you need to use the suggestions in the other thread being discussed today.   using the runas command or runaspwd if you can find it.   You may need to use the /savecred switch.  I haven't worked out the details yet but watch the threads.

So from an SA point of view we can say that it's executed?

Done - looks exactly the same in the "DOS" box that opens as when it is executed successfully. Hair is being torn out!  :-)

try putting a PAUSE in the command to see if it's executed or not.

Hi Dirk (and everyone else)

Now upgraded to V5 on a separate server and I'm writing all new checks. On a down alert being received one of the options we have is for a batch file to be ran so that it can automatically log a call into our Touchpaper Helpdesk via the command line interface. I've written the batch files but they will not execute. Running the file from the command line and double clicking it in Windows both work. The log shows the following:

18 January 2005 16:08:09 Copy of Ping ThinServ1
18 January 2005 16:08:10 ERR PING status:  11010
18 January 2005 16:08:12 ERR PING status:  11010
18 January 2005 16:08:13 ERR PING status:  11010
18 January 2005 16:08:15 ERR PING status:  11010
18 January 2005 16:08:16 ERR PING status:  11010
18 January 2005 16:08:16 Copy of Ping ThinServ1 failed due to a successrate of only 0%
18 January 2005 16:08:16 Sending email message (Copy of Ping ThinServ1 is DOWN)
18 January 2005 16:08:16 Alert Executing "C:\SAlive_options\HDCLi\Thinserver.BAT"

18 January 2005 16:08:17 ExportStatsLog function started
18 January 2005 16:09:52 Check cycle starts ( 54- 54)

I have also tried the above line with no quotes around it but with no joy, Can you help!
