Don't forget I also reported a colour issue. My icon turns blue after I've accessed the
system using Terminal Services. This isn't video driver related because it happens on
two different machines, with totally different video cards.
I wonder whether this and Aidan's black icon are related?

Only reason I can see for it would be an issue with the video driver.
On my own system I'm also using 32 bits colors and I see the icon perfectly.

And you're looking directly at it or via a remote control tool?
Yeah, that pic was taken whilst logged on at the workstation.
Strangely enough, I'm *now* remote-controlling it, and I can see the
Yellow/Orange (sun?) icon. I'll see if when I get into work it's OK or still
black.
