I've seen that sort of behavior from windows
installer before, though not with SA specifically. I have a VB app we
use here packaged in an msi that does this sometimes does this with AutoCAD and
I've also seen an older version of Outlook (2000 I think) do this on
occasion.
My guess would be that the programs use some
of the same components (dlls, ocx or whatever) and something is causing windows
installer to think they're gone and want to reinstall them. (MSI
packages have a self-healing mechanism so that if you delete necessary files
they will be reinstalled automatically).

Subject: [SA-list] Install software window when running SAlive
Hello
everyone,
I am trying to move
SAlive to another server and have run into something odd. Whenever SAlive
runs, a box (several, in sequence, actually) appears asking for the installation
file for another program. (It's the usual Window2K- "The feature you are
trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not
available") Unfortunately this program is from a vendor and I'm having
trouble getting the .msi file it's asking for from them. Has anyone else
experienced this? Or does anyone have a suggestion as to what SAlive could
be looking for?
I have installed
other programs recently (Acrobat6.03, Winzip9SP1, etc.) without getting
this result. I have uninstalled SAlive and reinstalled it and it
recurs.
Thanks in
advance!
