I personally, wouldn't spend the $ to have it rely on SQL server.. because what happens when it goes down? no tests get done. I dont' see any problem with the way it is -- i wouldn't mind seeing the engine & gui seperated -- but it's not -- so that's that. Stopping the service, starting it manually -- adding a few; closing & restarting the service isn't that big of a deal -- how often do you do this? Maybe it should be a "maintence" schedule and you do bulk updates on Tuesday at 10am or something...
