TLS is an "update" on SSL.
But the new version should be able to work with both, you will ofcourse need to enter the correct port :-)

This check works great.  The only thing I would like to add is that TLS and SSL are not the same.  Most servers support both.  I found with Google's server one port can handle TLS and the other can handle SSL.  My server can negotiate both so this check works great for me.   Thank you very much Dirk for a great product and even better support.

Gmail's SMTP server supports it too :-) and that's already setup for me...

The SMTP2POP3 addon that is now on http://www.woodstone.nu/salive/addons.asp
has SSL support for the mail sending part (SMTP with SSL seems to be the
same as SMTP with TLS)

If you have a spare machine, you can load up FreeBSD and get Postfix from
the ports tree - it'll ask about TLS during the configure stage and get the
modules you need.

I use such a box (without TLS, though) as a gateway to my Exchange box, and
am using it to filter spam and malware as well.

As I have no access to a TLS enabled server it will be very
difficult to
add.
