I had those symptoms briefly when I first moved to
Win2003. I'll check my notes. One thing that comes to mind is to
check for leading spaces, at one time one of the versions was putting leading
spaces in the username field. I run many of the betas so that
may never have been an issue with the production versions.

monitor services on remote Windows 2003 servers. Even when I use
credentials with administrative rights, it fails. However, it does work on
XP, and 2000. Details: When I enter in credentials
in a new monitor job and click on “check” it brings up the list box briefly and
then it disappears. If I just type in the name of the service and try to
monitor it, it fails. Any
ideas?
