With direct send SA will try to contact the SMTP server responsible for the
domain of the TO part of the mail.(based on the MX record of that domain).
But again for this you need access to port 25/SMTP.

What means "send direct" in the setup ?
I mailed to our firewall administrator, maybe we can't do smtp to the outer
world. But i will get no answer before Monday. Then i will mail again.
Nice weekend and thanks for all the tips.

If you can't access the SMTP server then it will be hard to use it, to send
mail...

it seems you are right, Dirk.
I tried for all three mailservers telnet hostname 25, but didn't get any
connection.

For all three i entered a host name, and "send direct" had NO check mark.

You don't even get to the point of the authentication, it looks like you're
not even able to connect to the SMTP server.

Did you configure a fixed smtp server or did you enable direct send? If it's
a fixed SMTP server then try

(from a command prompt)
                TELNET <smtp-server> 25
Does that work?
