Title: Issue with re-pointing to a new database...
These issues seemed to come from MS SQL:

I created a new database, had SA create new tables. Everything was fine. I then restored the data to the new tabels from the tape backup.

Presto-chango, the problem was back. Even though in MS SQL the owner was clearly shown to be newOwner, oldOwner still got prepended. oldOwner didn't even have rights to the new database, but it still showed.

So, thanks for your help Dirk, looks like this is an "undocumented feature" of MS SQL.

The "solution" when changing owners:
1) Create a new database with the newOwner setup.
2) Have SA create the new tables
3) Export the current data from the old database to the new one, NOT restore from file or tape

Then you would get the new info as entered.
The error that we show are those we get back from the ODBC driver too, so if that is using info that is in the ODBC setup you will see that in the error too.

So, if I disable it, shut down SA, delete the Interchange and StatusLog regkeys, then re-enable and re-enter the info?

Would that work?

The settings are kept in the registry and if you enable/disable you just change that flag, not the actual info.

When doe it get "built" ? When i create the initial connection to the odbc? I noticed that Sa 'remebered' my settings even after I disabled the check and applied it.

The owner info is taken (I think) via the ODBC connection.

I did that.

Same issue.

Also, I tried disableing the output option, and saving it, same issue.

Restart SA and try again.

Subject: [SA-list] Issue with re-pointing to a new database...

I've had to change the location and owner of the interchange and stats db's and I have the followint wierdness:

I've changed the ODBC connection and it tests OK
I've changed the Setup | Logging options for both to the new user, password, DSN
Both Interchange and Stats will create a new table in the database

But the darn thing won't output to it!!

So here's the relevent log file line:

Thursday, May 11, 2006 11:01:23 AM ERR DB_Update_Interchange_DB_Connection : -2147217865([Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Invalid object name 'oldOwner.ServAlive'.- line: 0-P) UID:3

Clearly somewhere it's added the db owner info and is using it, but I can't see where so I can change it.

Any ideas?
