I ask because I am getting similar results using ICQ alerts.   Salive only fails when it is trying to send alerts.  I have disabled threading and no longer have the problem.   I do not however receive ICQ alerts but Dirk is working on that.    Perhaps if you disable threading then you can have your MSN alerts.
