The only COM checks that uses the same checking URL as Servers Alive is the
webApp checker.
The others are not sharing any specific files (except the typical C/C++/VB
runtime files)

Do you have any COM Checks installed? The latest versions? If so, which ones?

No, I'm using the standard built it URL content check for the errors that are
failing. I didn't have the problem with v5 but upgraded to v6 to overcome an
intermittent hanging issue.

Since restarting the service every 48 hrs, the problem has not come back.

Steve,

Are you using COM Checks? If so which ones?

Did you update to the latest versions of the COM Checks when you went to
6.1 Beta?

Just catching up on the list here, I have exactly the same issue with the URL
checks but I'm running the latest v6 beta.

After a few days of Servers Alive running successfully, all the URL and DB
checks(but none of the other checks) failed with these errors:
------------------------------------------------------
is DOWN reason URL : xxxxxxxx The current socket connection has been reset.

Yup, the same symptoms. I have been speaking to Woodstone support but so far we
have not come up with a resolution. I've worked around the issue by forcing a
restart of servers alive every 2 days at midnight.

Woodstone cannot reproduce the issue either but my hunch is a memory leak of
some description although have no proof obviously.

Could this issue be memory related?

The server I'm running it on has 500+ checks, 512MB of memory with windows 2000,
the Web Server for SA Templates and also has HP WebJetAdmin running on it.

The URL checks writes the page it gets to disk during the check (and removes it
afterwards) and seems to be unable to write anymore.
The Oracle check is using the 'service' of the Oracle client DLLs and these are
telling that they can't resolve the name that you're using for the Oracle check.

I've been running this version for a long time without issue.

I had some problems with some COM extensions and was forced to reinstall Servers
Alive(The same version as I was running before) and then installed the latest
versions of the COM checks WebApp, SMTP2POP3, Remote DF Com, and Remote PS Com.

After a few days of Servers Alive running successfully, all the URL and DB
checks(but none of the other checks) failed with these errors:
------------------------------------------------------
is DOWN reason URL : xxxxxxxx The current socket connection has been reset.
Is DOWN reason URL : xxxxxxxx Could not write to file.
is DOWN reason URL : xxxxxxxx Got page and content is NOT ok is DOWN reason
Oracle Server (db xxxxx.world) NOT OK cause: ORA-12154:
TNS:could not resolve service name.

Any theories on a possible cause?
