SNMP Setup etc. I'd say that Rusell doesn't have a correct OID. Get iReasoning
MIB Browser (free) and run SNMP Walk on that device and you'll see all the OIDs
a device is providing.

In order to do an SNMP GET check you don't even need the MIB file, you need the
exact OID of the probe you're trying to monitor.

An OID is something like:

                1.2.567.345.2345.234.1.24.23.1.0

Subject: [SA-list] SNMP Setup etc.

Hi All,

I am trying to setup an SNMP check (and I know nothing about SNMP) for a
temperature probe. The agent sent me a MIB file and I added it to the MIB
database. This add gave no errors.

When I run the check I get an error "noSuchObject"

How do I know if the MIB file provided is what is needed and what does that
error message mean. I suspect it means that the MIB file is not what is
required.

Any assistance greatly received.

Thanks - Russell
