Alistair, What drove you to do that, rather than using SA's built in Alpha/SMS alerting? Was that feature not there at the time, or did you simply find that your app was more reliable that SA's native feature?

Then just told SA to execute that app with command line options such as message and recipient number. Possibly not the most elegant way of doing it but worked like a charm.
