Alistair,

What drove you to do that, rather than using SA's built in Alpha/SMS alerting?
Was that feature not there at the time, or did you simply find that your app
was more reliable that SA's native feature?

Would you be willing to make your app available?

Cheers,

Ian

Using SMS in the UK for alerts

FWIW we wrote a simple application to talk the modem and generate sms’s.
Then just told SA to execute that app with command line options such as message
and recipient number. Possibly not the most elegant way of doing it but worked
like a charm.

Subject: [SA-list] Using SMS in the UK for alerts

Hi,

Usual question... Does anyone have a bulletproof way of actually making this
work? I have tried with a modem, with a mobile attached via cable but does not
work. I don’t mind paying within reason – I just want to be able to
receive SMS alerts quickly when there is a problem.

Thanks

Graham
