Well the "tech" part is already done...was very simple...Why didn't I think about this before??? The GUI still has to be done.
As for doing it for COM checks too, that will be something else...that will be something that will (IF) done per check (as we need to add this functionality to each check that uses windows based authentication). -----Original Message----- From: Servers Alive Discussion List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Barry George Sent: Thursday, February 24, 2011 8:55 PM To: Servers Alive Discussion List Subject: RE: [SA-list] User management for Windows based checks Why didn't we think of that before? Great idea Dirk! -----Original Message----- From: Dirk Bulinckx [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: February-24-11 1:59 PM To: Servers Alive Discussion List Subject: [SA-list] User management for Windows based checks For the moment if you want to authenticate for the Windows based checks (service - diskspace - ...) you need to give the username and password. This means that if the password changes that you need to change the password for each entry that has that username. I was thinking about a way to make this more user friendly :-) How if we would allow to use a "PERSON" (same as those for the alerts) for the authentication? That way you would only need to change the password once and everything the authentication needs to be done using that "person" (username) we already have the updated password. Let me know what you think about this..... dirk To unsubscribe send a message with UNSUBSCRIBE in the subject line to [email protected] If you use auto-responders (like out-of-the-office messages), make sure that they are not sent to the list nor to individual members.
