Entrerprise v7.0.2505. I did not have logging turned on so I have now enabled it for "Maximum". I shutdown one of the time clock terminal PCs and then looked for entries in the log file. Below is what I got. Monday, August 04, 2014 11:08:25 AM TC001 Monday, August 04, 2014 11:08:33 AM PING DEBUG: event start for ID= 0 pingID= 62 Monday, August 04, 2014 11:08:33 AM TC001 failed due to a successrate of only 0% Monday, August 04, 2014 11:08:33 AM INFO: alerting SMTPP Monday, August 04, 2014 11:08:33 AM PING DEBUG: REMOVE for ID= 0 pingID= 62 Monday, August 04, 2014 11:08:33 AM PING DEBUG: REMOVED for ID= 0 pingID= 62 The log would indicate the alert was sent but I checked the mailserver log and did not find any entry.
Then I received Anthony L.'s email suggesting a problem with concurrent connections. I checked and didn't find anything regarding concurrent connections but I did find the SA PC's IP address in the SPAM log. Our mailserver has a setting called "Spam Repellent". Essentially, it allows you to delay your SMTP greeting by "x" number of seconds (in our case 20). The theory is that spammers won't wait for 20 seconds for an email server's response. Apparently neither will SA ; - ). There is a whitelist for this feature so I added SA to it and the problem is resolved. Thanks. ---------------------- Bob Hartung Dir of I.T. The problem is I'm getting only getting some alerts. For example, I have 8 PCs that serve as time/attendance terminals. They all automatically shutdown at night at the same time and they all turn on in the morning at the same time. Their alerts are all configured the same. However, I only receive one or two alerts at shutdown and on startup. It's not always the same PC either. Is this some time of timing issue with SA? I checked the mailserver log and it shows the emails that get through but it doesn't show that the others were attempted. ---------------------- Bob Hartung Dir of I.T.
