Rob,
Thanks for that feedback. I guess the most important
thing is that I check some files out after I do it and
see if it's acting as suspected. If it does get set,
then as you said I could just clear it and start the
archiver and go on. I haven't yet started the new
archiving process....right now I'm running a scan to
see if anything still has a copy1 archdone flag yet.
Once I see that it doesn't, I'll be able to start
my archiving on a year by year basis. Looking forward
to having some good fresh tapes, and this time I've
tweaked some of the settings so there aren't as many
tape drive start/stop's.

Tim,

I think the archdone attribute WILL get set on those files, but when
you
remove them from the no_archive group and restart the archiver, it should
clear that and archive them.

Worst case, I think you can manually remove the archdone attribute.

I'm wondering before I kick off this new archiving task
that I'm reworking, about the effects on the "archdone"
flag based on what I'm about to do.

Below is the relevant part of the config. My goal is
to temporarily prevent archiving of anything newer
than the 2003 subdirectory. I want to kick them off
so that I fill each VSN completely, and consecutively
by year. I'm only working with copy 1 right now...copy
2 already has been written over time.

I do realize that if I do what I'm doing, I won't be
archiving 2011 stuff for a couple days.

If I do what I have below, and I read the documentation
on the web regarding "archdone" it sounds as if things
that will never archive will get the archdone flag set.
But, that the default for setarchdone is OFF if you
have examine=noscan. What I'm trying to prevent is
having everything in 2004 thru 2011 get the archdone
flag set, just because I have it in the "no_archive"
list right now. I plan to just remove lines one by
one from no_archive, each time a year is done archiving,
and also change the "radio ./2003" line to the next
consecutive year.

Am I going to have a problem with what I'm doing, like
will 'archdone' be set, or am I doing OK/
