Issue ten of Sam Revival is out now, complete with coverdisk. Subscribers issue's will be in the post tommorrow morning so you should receive them by the weekend.
What's inside this issue, well the usual mix of Quazar News, Sam Scene Roundup and the ever popular Sam Snippets! Onto the feature articles, Simon Owen takes a detailed look at his PacMan Arcade Machine emulator, and guides us through just how he was able to write such a program. The article is fairly indepth with lots of technical details about how the arcade machine is structured and how each segment is emulated on the Sam - such as Video, Sound and Input controls. The second feature article is an interview with Warren Lee, you may not have heard of this chap except from a couple of small games he had published on Fred magazine years ago, however he is the author of the game on the coverdisk so this interview delves into his Sam past looking at what he wrote, and a couple of things he started but never finished. And the coverdisk.. featuring a game called 'Invasion II', written by Warren Lee. This was originally coded back in 1996 but was never published. Invasion II is a great platformer game with the usual 'stop the alien invasion' game plot, but Warren has paid a lot of attention to detail in this game with lots of animation in the game. Screenshots can be seen on the website. Sam Revival costs 3.00, or 5.50 euros for international readers (including airmail postage). A three issue subscription costs 8 (15 euros internationally).
