I think this depends on: a) any long term plans for SimCoupe to support alternative disk formats. It's open source, so in theory anybody could implement that, but Simon Owen is probably in the best position to coment on the possibilities at the moment... b) whether it would be possible for Edwin's disk image manager to be extended to protected formats. Currently only Edwin knows this. It might be easier to use .dsk.gz where possible, instead of the more complex format in all cases. It's already in very common use, the tools to deal with it already exist, and it it probably adequate for a large majority of PD/magazine images (only the commercial games are likely to require anything more complex). If we start by using something else, it will only mean a delay while the tools catch up.
