Early ZCPR just used the standard CP/M2 format with easier access to the user
areas, the later versions used the same logical layout but also had a lookup
file that was used to convert the user numbers to more meaningfull text names.
So really it's no better than cp/m filing system...
MSX-DOS2 uses the FAT method with directories and 'handles' as opposed to
cp/m fcb's and a pseudo cp/m like fcb interface to allow very well behaved
generic cp/m1 & 2 utils to function eg the pmarc/ext suite or M80 etc...

I've no idea if MSX-DOS2 was ever applied to an HD filesystem but it could be
worth a look!

Br> Are you thinking of partitions?

Initially on the cp/m+ bios I'm not worrying about it to start with, BUT
assuming Si can arrange a file system for sam-native mode and gets the drive
partition table defined for that, then it'll be relativly simple to ask the
hd-bios to reference that structure and not overwrite the native or unix
partitions and reserve it's own partition or two... CP/M+ isn't fussy about
sizes as it *can* handle multiple drives upto 512Meg each or smaller
partitions if required:-)
