As the Sams graphics isn't so well developed that missing pixels wouldn't show I doubt we'd need to bother with jpg or fif format files anyway;-) AFAIK lossless archives which is what we were discussing are all designed to do the same job using the same data types ARC stolen into PKARC to PKPAK then to PKZIP because the law made him give up his theft of the ARC format... ZOO a seperate paralell development on another platform... LHArc .LZH designed as a portable definiton for PD compression development ARJ a comercial rival to PK without AFAIK the sordid past. PMArc is the LHArc envelope format with a custom PD method designed to run under Z80-CP/M only. LBR pre-date all the above and almost virtualises the exact cpm1.xx disc structure in a single file but using 128byte blocks instead of the usual 1k etc. designed to reduce losses assosiated with big allocation blocks etc. It even has utils that can set a .LBR file as a virtual disc-drive under cp/m2 and 3!
