While I have the greatest of respect for what you do, Brian, I have to disagree. The whole of the Sam world is now based around idealists - people like Si and Martin Rookyard. The very nature of the Sam as it is demands that people do keep an Idealist view - otherwise it simply becomes a computer that is too slow, too unsupported and - let's face it, too expensive. We (I count myself in this happy bunch although I admit that my idealism is fast fading) _do_ work for nothing. I need to eat and pay bills too. We try and make a minimal profit from what we do, but - in my case at least - we understand that we are unlikely to break even if we cost our hours at a rate anywhere _near_ what we should expect to be paid. My current expertise would demand a salary of around L15,000 (starting). Who in the Sam world is going to make that sort of money by writing software and making periperals? That's the difference between an enthiusiast and a businessman. And which would I prefer to do business with? Let's see, on the business side, we have: You, Bob, Adrian Parker, the Format `team' on the enthiusiasts side, we have Dave L (just about, he has another job anyway :), Si, Entropy, ESI, all of the Sam _users_... I have to admit that you lose out. As I said, I have great respect for you because you provide services that people need and want, and I respect you because I know how hard you work. But Bob and his "I won't work until I'm sure I'll break even" brigade should be making PC peripherals, and the only reason they're not is because there's a big enough market for them and their crap not to survive. Enough, I think...
