I have looked it up and done some experiments and my conclusion is that it does nothing whatsoever. Perhaps it is used in Master BASIC, or was intended to be used in Sam BASIC but had to be left out. I presume it would have been for instructions of the form PRINT USING "This is my $#.##";2/100. imc
