BC-DISK does already use compression, since it uses the code-file compression of Masterbasic (BTW I forgot to mention BC-DISK needs Masterdos AND Masterbasic in order to work). The compression is very effective, you always get a file smaller than the actual used diskspace (of course the disk must not contain erased files as they are still on the disk, only their directory entry is marked as free, so the erased files improve the size of the image file like non erased files). I think in the next version of BC-DISK I will eliminate this problem with the erased files by reading only sectors actually used by files. BTW I used Copy-QM, which has a disk image function too, for making backups on HD of all my SAM disks and I think it works much more reliable than Teledisk.
