Perhaps this is because the default for any file is plain text. In this case the extension doesn't matter unless it is one of the registered ones. If you want your .pak files to be saved instead of viewed, then add a line to your ~/.mime.types file which says: application/octet-stream pak (or create the file with this line if i doesn't already exist). imc
