Nope - nothing is going to replace it.

I talked to Bob a while ago on the phone about this. He said that with the
hard drive coming out, people arne't going to want or need more than 512k of
memory (Bill Gates - you've got a competitor, but this guy goes lower than
640k!!!).. which is a shame, because I've got lots of ideas for software
which will be greatly enhanced by having external memory.

Having said that, if we can convince Bruce to blow the GALs necessary for
us, we now know enough to put the RYAN into practice, using cheap SIMMs...
we've even got a 1Mb simms module to test the design with.

I think Bob really is just waiting for the SAM to die.

He's never really progressed from the Spectrum... wanting to replace DIR
with CAT proves that much...
