Try this: <p>Hello</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>World.</p> Do you see enough space for three blank paragraphs in there? I don't. Whitespace doesn't count at the start of a paragraph; otherwise, <p> and <p>hello hello would look different. That's why certain broken HTML generators insert <p> </p> to make blank lines. That really is a paragraph with a space in it. imc
